Thomas Tuchel admits the injury crisis is a disaster for Chelsea

Thomas Tuchel admits that the injury crisis is a big disaster for Chelsea. Being the manager of the team, he said it is stupid to talk about his team chasing “title” when they are going through an injury crisis. He also expressed his concern about the Covid-19 cases they are dealing with.

Tuchel also vented his frustration out on a referee during their 1-1 draw against Hove Albion and Brighton. After this match, Chelsea was lagging eight points behind Manchester City.

Even though Chelsea is currently in the second spot, they are receiving tough competition from Liverpool, who are currently occupying the third position.

Tuchel admits that he is worried about his team as they have seven Covid-19 cases in hand. He said that seven of their players are infected and will be missing for six or more weeks depending on their recovery. Considering the present condition of his team, he is not sure how they are going to compete for the title.

He also said that everyone else who has a full team is training hard to deliver a powerful performance in the league. But for Chelsea, it is a tough time as half of their team members are sick.

Tuchel said that it would be stupid to think about chasing the league title with five or six players missing from the team. It is not possible to compete in a league match with sick and injured players. If anyone thinks that they can do it without 23 fit players, then it is plain stupid.

Full-back Reece James recently injured his hamstring. Before him, fellow defender Andreas Christensen was taken out of the field because of a terrible back problem. All this happened during the match against Brighton.

In response to this, Tuchel said that it is too much for him to handle. At this point, things are out of his hand. He expressed his frustration about the situation.

Chelsea’s crisis began in October when two of their star strikers Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku were injured in the same match. Since then they had a series of injuries. After losing their strikers, Chelsea lost their defender Ben Chilwell as he sustained a long-term knee injury. Besides the injury crisis, some of the team members including N’Golo Kante, Thiago Silva, Mateo Kovacic, and Kai Havertz are missing from the team because of Covid-19. They are going to be absent for six weeks or more.

With so many players missing from the team, it has become extremely difficult for Chelsea to participate in the League matches. Even if they join the game, it would be foolish of them to think about winning the title.

Tuchel seems to be envious of the other teams with a full squad, practising for the upcoming matches. Given the current situation, Tuchel is worried about his team and the matches ahead. Chelsea is already 8 points behind Manchester City, who are leading the league matches.
