Antonio Arrendel
Senior Training Specialist
Antonio Arrendel is a Senior training and outreach specialist for Sport in Society's Violence Prevention and Diversity (VPD) program.
Antonio�s passion was ignited while he was a member of the Athletes in Service to America (AIS) program at Sport in Society from 1995-1997 when he completed 2550 community service hours. Antonio worked as the Sexual Assault Prevention Coordinator in the Haitian �American community from 1998-2000. Being aware of the severity of the problem, Antonio began working as a batterers intervention specialist. During the five years at the batterers intervention program as a program manager, Antonio notice a re-occurring theme, men saying �I wish someone had talked to me when I was young�.
In January 05� Antonio returned to Sport in Society. Antonio is also a life coach and founder of Reading Blox, a program which encourages young males to read a book to children while they wait for their school buses in Dorchester neighborhoods.
Antonio has a B.S in Human Services and brings 10 years of work related experience to the Center. Demographically Antonio has worked with all classes, ages, gender, and religions. Antonio is married with 4 wonderful children and he his currently working on his first featured film.
Raised in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Antonio attended Milton high school where he ran track and played football. As a junior, he missed the 88� Olympic trials by two tenths of a second. Antonio attended Northeastern University on a track scholarship. While at Northeastern he helped his team capture several championships including the Penn Relays sprint medley title.
