Jarrod Chin
Manager, Violence Prevention and Diversity

Jarrod Chin has been with Sport in Society since 2001. He currently serves as the Manager of Outreach for Violence Prevention and Diversity (VPD). In this capacity, Jarrod oversees all outreach programming in the Greater Boston area. Moreover, Chin ensures that the outreach staff continues to deliver high-quality and meaningful trainings in a variety of settings, specifically to middle school, high school, college, and adult audiences.

Chin first joined Sport in Society as a Training and Outreach Specialist with Project TEAMWORK. As such, he facilitated diversity and conflict resolution trainings, primarily with middle and high school students. In 2003 he was promoted to Senior Training Specialist. In this position, Chin�s training duties expanded to include the Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP), as well as Project TEAMWORK. As a Senior Trainer, Chin was also responsible for training new Outreach Specialists in Sport in Society�s Violence Prevention and Diversity programs.

In his five years at the Center, he has trained over 100 middle and high schools in the Project TEAMWORK and MVP curriculums. In total, Chin has led more than 1,200 hours of discussion centered on preventing violence and promoting diversity in both academic and non-academic settings. Chin has also trained numerous colleges, organizations and companies in Sport in Society curriculum.

More recently, Chin has begun work with Eli Wolff in developing the Athletes for Human Rights Initiative at Sport in Society. In this role, Chin will oversee the educational training components and curriculum development of this new project.

Before coming to Sport in Society, Chin volunteered for City Year, a national youth service organization, from 1996 through 1997. During his service year, he tutored and mentored students at a Boy's and Girl's Club, founded a community newspaper for Roxbury and developed community service projects for corps members. In total, Chin performed over 1,700 hours of community service during his year.

Chin graduated from Connecticut College with a degree in history in 2001. He is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Education from Northeastern University.

Chin grew up in Duxbury, MA where he played volleyball and basketball. His accomplishments in volleyball have enabled him to travel throughout North America to compete in a variety of tournaments. He continues to play both volleyball and basketball for a club teams in Boston.
