Taj Washington
Training and Outreach Specialist
Taj Washington joined the Center for Study of Sport in Society as a training specialist in October 2006. At Sport in Society he works with the Violence Prevention and Diversity (VPD) team, facilitating sessions with students and young adults on social justice issues, such as diversity, conflict resolution, gender violence awareness, and the inclusion of disabled athletes.
Prior to working at Sport in Society, Washington was a manager for a family owned parking and revenue control business on the Northeastern University campus. Before coming to Northeastern University he mentored and tutored incoming freshman athletes in the Academic Services Department at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He also worked with young men, coaching basketball for the Boston Neighborhood Basketball League.
Washington graduated from Lexington High School in 1998, where he was a three-time all-league point guard in basketball and all-state quarterback. After graduation He attended Northfield Mt. Hermon School, in Northfield Mass. as a part of the postgraduate degree program. He continued to excel in football and basketball, earning a football scholarship, as a wide receiver, to the University of Massachusetts Amherst. After two years, he transferred to Bentley College in Waltham, where he continued to play football. In his first season, Washington guided the team to a 10-1 record. His second season he led the team to the first undefeated season in school history, as well as the schools first birth into the NCAA playoffs. His senior season he was Second Team all- league with 62 receptions 944 yards and 12 touchdowns. Washington graduated from Bentley College in 2004 with a bachelor�s of arts degree in management and finance.
Washington plans to pursue a master�s degree in sports leadership at Northeastern University.
