Jose Masso is responsible for the operations of the internal and external programs of Sport in Society which are designed to address critical social issues while reflecting the mission of the Center.

Masso manages the Center's day-to-day responsibilities at the Sport in Society office at Northeastern University in Boston. Masso serves as the direct contact to Sport in Society Executive Director Richard Lapchick who operates out of both his Boston and Orlando Satellite office at Disney's Wide World of Sports.

Masso also uses his public speaking savvy for various Sport in Society outreach efforts as a master of ceremonies, discussion moderator, guest speaker.

Masso is also a member of the Board of Directors at The Gifford School in Weston, MA., and the Boston Arts Acacemy Foundation. He is also a member of Boston Mayor Thomas Menino's Office of Cultural Affairs Planning and Assesment Advisory Task Force.

A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Masso moved to Boston after completing his studies at Antioch College in 1973. Since then, Masso has enjoyed a career in the areas of education, communications and politics. Masso worked for nearly three years with Bob Woolf Associate as Executive Director of Latin Sports & Entertainment and held the same position with InterPro Sports & Entertainment in Boston. As the Executive Director of Patria Enterprises, Inc. Masso was responsible for publicity, public relations, marketing, contract negotiations, special events and promotions, as well as identifying and developing the latin market in baseball and entertainment. Some of his clients have included baseball players Ruben Sierra, Roberto Alomar, Carlos Baerga, Juan Gonzalez, Sandy Alomar, Bernie Williams and Ozzie Guillen.

Masso previously worked as Deputy Director of Marketing for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), and for six years was the Director of Community Services and the Hispanic Liaison for Governor Michael Dukakis.

Since 1974, Jose has been the announcer/producer of "Con Salsa!," a weekly bilingual music program. He has been a television host for over 15 years.
