MVP Training Specialist
Information Systems
Technician
Miles serves Northeastern
University's Center for the Study of Sport in Society in two roles: as
MVP Training Specialist, and as their Information
Systems Technician. Miles joined Sport in Society in 1995.
Mentors in Violence
Prevention (MVP) Program
Miles works with young men and women in Massachusetts and beyond as
a training specialist for Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP)
Program. He has trained with various local groups in Boston, as well as
internationally in Japan (Okinawa, Iwakuni, and Hiroshima) and Germany.
Information Systems
Technician
Miles is alos Sport in Socety's Information Systems Technician. It
is his responsibility to introduce new strategies that will enhance efficiency
and productivity via use of our information systems. He is also responsible
for maintaining a local client / server environment and training the staff
in usage of new technology.
Athletes In Service
to America
He now plays in a local summer football league in Massachusetts for
recreation. Miles joined Northeastern University's Center for the Study
of Sport in Society full time after year of service in Athletes
In Service to America program. Along with other student-athletes from
across the country, he worked in high schools and community organizations
with younger students around the issues of cultural diversity, conflict
resolution, and gender violence. They also provided both mentoring and
academic tutoring.
Football Experience
Prior to Sport in Society, Miles played football for Northeastern
University (two-year captain). Afterwhich he was invited to the NFL by
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent. In 1995, Miles then spent a
short time with the Albany Firebirds of the Arena Football League.
Educational / Personal
Miles was born in Greensboro, NC. Miles graduated from Northeastern
University in 1996 with a B.S. in Business Administration. His concentration
and focus was in Logistics and Transportation Management and Computer
Information Systems. Currently he is attending the Graduate School of
Business at Northeastern University.
