MVP Associate Director


Marissa is the Associate Director for the Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) Program at Northeastern University's Center for the Study of Sport in Society.

She is responsible for directing the state MVP program and facilitates gender violence prevention trainings in Massachusetts high schools and colleges nationwide.

A native of Blairstown, NJ, Marissa attended Boston College where she played varsity basketball for 4 years and graduated with honors in 1993. While at BC she was selected as a three-time Big East Academic All-Star, voted co-captain her senior year, and received the Outstanding Senior Award for women's basketball.

Marissa also received the Orrie Scarminach Scholarship given to a deserving student athlete for graduate studies.

Marissa's post-collegiate career took her to Treorchy, Wales, where she played professionally for the Rhondda Rebels, the only Welsh team competing in the First Division of the English League.

During this time, Marissa organized and conducted basketball skills clinics for local youth.

In 1995, Marissa began an internship in East Meadow, NY, at the Women's Sports Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing sports and fitness opportunities for girls and young women. While at the Foundation, Marissa worked in special events and advocacy, and coached the St. Brigid's CYO girls' basketball team as a volunteer.

In 1996, Marissa returned to Boston College to earn her Master's Degree in Secondary Education. While doing so, Marissa also worked as an instructional assistant for Boston College Learning Resources for Student Athletes and served as assistant women's basketball coach at Babson College for two years.

Marissa is currently enrolled in Northeastern University's graduate certificate program for non-profit management and serves on the Board of Directors for the New England Women's Fund.
