Boston Marathon sponsor John Hancock has donated two entries to Sport in Society. The entries will be used by the two people listed below, each of whom has taken the pledge to raise $5,000 for our organization. Please consider sponsoring one of them:
Meghan Mahoney has been with Sport in Society for just over two years. Meghan originally joined Sport in Society as an AmeriCorps*VISTA member. Prior to joining the SIS team, Meghan spent a year as a Thomas J. Watson Fellow. Meghan graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 2005 with a degree in English and Philosophy. Although Meghan is in perpetual training and has been a winter warrior for some time, this will be her first marathon. "Sure, it'll be tough," says Mahoney, "but running a marathon can never compare to the pain so many endure on a daily basis. Having worked for Sport in Society for two years, I know the powerful role the organization plays in working to change that reality." To support Meghan click here.
Mark Harris is in his fourth year with the NU Athletics Department. He is the Assistant Director of Athletic Development where he coordinates annual fundraising efforts for the schools 19 varsity programs. He recently received his Masters degree in Sports Leadership from Northeastern. Prior to his work at Northeastern, Harris served as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Stonehill College in Easton, MA. He graduated in 2004 from Bucknell University. Marks interest in supporting Sport in Society started while enrolled in the Sports Leadership program. Sport in Society has a positive influence on the lives everyone from urban youth to professional athletes. The Sport in Society staff does incredible work, and I want to join their cause by securing resources to enhance their programming, says Harris. To support Mark click here.
