Northeastern Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Husky Wish Gift
Focus Area: Sports, Exercise, Healthy Living
Grant deadline: March 13, 2009
Organization Description: The Husky Wish Gifts are small grants given by the Northeastern Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) to Boston-area schools, teams, and community organizations that work to increase youths opportunity to participate in sports and exercise. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is an independent student run organization.
SAAC is a group of student-athletes committed to "being the difference," both on and off the field of play. As leaders in the Northeastern community, SAAC members not only strive to instill values of sportsmanship, hard work, and dedication, but are also committed to being role models for Boston-area youth. As Northeastern students, we raise the funds to support the Husky Wish Gift on an annual basis. It is our pleasure to open up the 2009 granting cycle to you.
SAAC invites interested applicants to apply for a Husky Wish Gift ranging from $500-$1,200. The application deadline is March 13th, 2009. All applications will be considered by a committee of SAAC members. Awards will be made and recipients will be recognized at the end of April.
Who We Fund
SAAC is happy to fund grants to schools, teams, and non-profit organizations in the Boston area that enable more youths to participate in sport and exercise. Coaches of teams, principals, athletic directors, booster clubs, or other interested parties should confer to determine which administrative unit in your organization should apply for the grant. Grantees must be recognized entities within the school system, athletic department, or registered non-profit organization. We encourage programs that work with underserved populations and at-risk youths.
What We Fund
These humble gifts are not expected to support huge projects but rather small initiatives that often go under the radar. Funding opportunities include, but are not limited to: sports jerseys and equipment, tournament fees, travel expenses, coaches salary, child participation fees, event budget, program budget, and facilities maintenance, and health nutrition options.
