Inspiring HBO Sports documentary premieres in Boston

DARE TO DREAM: THE STORY OF THE U.S. WOMEN�S SOCCER TEAM

Special guest, US Olympian Kristine Lilly will headline events

WHO: HBO, Comcast, The Center for the Study of Sport in Society at Northeastern University and the Women�s Sports Foundation celebrate the premiere of the HBO Sports documentary DARE TO DREAM: THE STORY OF THE U.S. WOMEN�S SOCCER TEAM. Boston resident U.S. Olympian Kristine Lilly will participate in both an elementary school visit and an evening premiere screening event.

WHAT: Elementary school visit 10:30 AM � 11:30 AM (crews should arrive by 10:15 AM) Mather School (1 Parish Street, Dorchester)
US Olympian Kristine Lilly will visit Mather�s boys and girls soccer teams (4th and 5th graders) to share some of her experiences, talk about the importance of teamwork, and conduct soccer drills.

Premiere screening event 5:30 PM VIP reception � media availability with Kristine Lilly 7:00 PM screening John Hancock Hall (180 Berkeley Street) Guests including Boston area sports contacts, and women�s sports teams from Massachusetts Universities, High Schools, and soccer leagues will enjoy a sneak preview of the HBO Sports documentary. The film�s producer Joe Lavine and Kristine Lilly will be on hand to introduce the film.

DETAILS: DARE TO DREAM explores the unrivaled phenomenon largely created by five individuals who played together for 17 years on the U.S. National Team: Mia Hamm, Julie Foudy, Brandi Chastain, Kristine Lilly and Joy Fawcett. Their enduring perseverance and success reshaped the American sports landscape, empowering millions of young girls to dream and achieve their goals, as well as establishing themselves as powerful marketing icons. The story starts quietly in the 1980s, when a group of young women battle individually to establish themselves as high school and U.S. National Team soccer players. Before ending in 2004, it entails a remarkable string of events and accomplishments, including two gold medal triumphs at the Olympic Games and two World Cup titles, while redefining the opportunities for young women in team sports in this country.
