
Sport in Society hosts 15th annual Human Rights Leadership Forum
Who: The Center for the Study of Sport in Society at Northeastern University is hosting the 15th annual Human Rights Leadership Forum. The keynote speaker is Northeastern University professor and accomplished Jazz musician Emmett Price. Additional speakers include: WBZ�s Steve Burton, Blue Skye�s Grier Potter, the Boston Celtic�s Marcellus Heath, the Boston Celtic�s Leigh Trimmier, founder of Dunk the Vote Ron Bell, the Boston Celtic�s Wayne Levy, Paralympians Paul Martin and Kip St. Germain, and Olympian Chris Jarvis.
What: Sport in Society will honor more than 500 Massachusetts students for the work they have done over the year to reduce prejudice and violence within their schools and local communities. Chosen by the students, the theme is �The Role Leadership Plays in Human Rights and Sports.� During the forum, a local middle and high school will receive the Darryl Williams Award for their efforts and service to their community. In addition, one high school will receive the Mentors in Violence Prevention Leadership Award.
