Eileen Smart served
as the Program Director of Athletes in Service
to America.
Smart
coordinates the national office at Northeastern University
as well as oversee the four other AIS operating sites, at
Eckerd College, the University of Kentucky, Canisius College,
and Drexel University.
Athletes
in Service to America (AIS) is an initiative of the AmeriCorps
program.
Smart
brings an experienced background of more than twelve years
in related program management, fundraising and commitment
to ending men's violence against women
She
has an outstanding record of program design and implementation
based on the empowerment of youth and the elimination of
racism.
Previous Experience
Most
recently, Smart was the Sport/Recreation Director for the
YWCA of Boston, where she successfully co-chaired the National
YWCA's Week Without Violence which brought national media
attention to ending men's violence against women.
Personal
As
the first woman hired in the state of Massachusetts as a
Sports Information Director, she has spent a lifetime promoting
the benefits of sports while pioneering the way for girls
and women in the field.
She
has collegiate and professional sports experience and has
worked with Olympic athletes and corporate sports offices.
