Adam Zand has worked at Northeastern University's Center for the Study of Sport in Society since July, 1993. Zand oversees of Sport in Society's DMC Team (Development / Marketing / Communications). DMC team encompasses development, marketing, media relations, communications, internet development, and special events. The DMC team includes Paul Ermlich and Lisa Hernandez-Gaskins.

Zand initiates press campaigns for Sport in Society's special events, programs, and staff. On January 1, 1996, Adam was named Sport in Society's Marketing Assistant. As a member of the marketing and development unit, he assisted in the development and execution of marketing activities in support of Sport in Society programs and special events. He has developed educational materials, student surveys and publications for Sport in Society's community outreach programs and participated in their implementation. He has assisted in the production of television shows for national broadcast to middle and high school students on the issues of violence in society. He edited and co-wrote marketing materials and funding proposals for programs and events.

Zand assisted with fund-raising activities for the 1994 Sport in Society Awards Banquet and ran the 1995 fund-raising banquet campaign, which raised over $200,000. As a member of the 1996 Awards Banquet marketing team, Adam assisted in efforts that netted over $200,000. Adam directed the 1997 and 1998 Awards Banquet campaign which raised over $230,000 and $270,000 representing the second largest yield for a fund-raising event in Sport in Society�s history. He oversaw the last three Silent Auctions (1995-97) which raised over $36,000.

During 1991-92, Zand worked at Conventures, Inc. in Boston as an Assistant Race Director for the College Classic & Alumni Run and provided on-site management for numerous events including: the annual Boston Celtics Golf & Tennis tournament, the Tufts 10K Road Race for Women, and the Boston World Cup 1994 bid.

In March, 1997, Zand commenced study for a master's of Business Administration at Northeastern University. He holds a bachelor's degree in Advertising (Cum Laude) from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in 1987. Zand received his master's degree in Sport Management from Northeastern University in 1995. While in the graduate program, he compiled customer satisfaction surveys and reported results to the Boston Garden and Foxboro Stadium. His International Marketing thesis was a study of "Rock Concert Marketing in Israel." He served as teaching assistant to Dr. Richard Lapchick for the "Contemporary Issues in Sport" graduate class at Northeastern, developing assignments and materials.

Zand is a Vice President of the B'nai B'rith Sports Lodge of New England. He has consulted with many non-profit organizations (including Boston Center for International Visitors, SchoolSports magazine, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Youth Enrichment Services) on marketing and development issues.

Zand was taken to his first baseball game at the age of two. Twenty-one years later, he broke his nose while serving as player/manager for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel championship softball team. Memorable events as a spectator include the 1994 World Cup Final and Carl Yastrzemski's 3000th hit.

He is married to Stephanie Maillet Zand and resides in Central Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
