Rudy Garcia-Tolson
Bloomington, CA
Swimming


Garcia-Tolson was born with Pterygium Syndrome. At age five he was given the opportunity to amputate both his legs or live life confined to a wheelchair, he chose amputation in order to have more mobility. Soon after he began swimming then running. By age fifteen, he held five American records in swimming and for national records in track. He has competed in 6 triathlons, and since the age of nine he has been training for the 2004 Paralympics in Athens, Greece. At the U.S. Paralympic Swim trials in Minneapolis Garcia-Tolson clinched his ticket to Athens by qualifying for the team.
