Trischa
Zorn
Indianapolis, IN
Swimming
Trischa Zorn is the most decorated Paralympian in the history of the Games
with an astounding 54 medals (41 gold, nine silver and four bronze medals
to her credit), in addition to eight world records (50m back, 100m back,
200m back, 200m IM, 400m IM, 200m breast, 4x50 medley relay and 4x50 free
relay).
Trischa is a four-time All-American and was awarded a full academic scholarship
to the University of Nebraska. She was an alternate to the 1980 Olympic
Team (missing a spot by 1/100th of a second) and was nominated as a candidate
for Sports Illustrated Woman of the Year in 1988. A former teacher in
Indianapolis, Zorn moved to Colorado Springs in 2000 to train at the U.S.
Olympic Training Center for the Sydney Paralympics. Zorn is currently
pursuing her J.D. at Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis.
Despite a medal count that borders on legendary, Trischa is once again
swimming to win. At this year’s US Paralympic swimming trials in
Minneapolis Trischa qualified in three different events. She will once
again represent the US at the Paralympic Games in Athens and looks to
add to her already impressive medal count.
