Social Justice

Social justice is an ideal that encompasses human rights, diversity, inclusion, equality, peace and fairness. All citizens of the world deserve to be treated with respect and dignity; these are human rights, not options.

The conduct of professional sports must take place without the specters of racism or other destructive forms of bias. This encompasses the equalization and legitimization of people with disabilities in all sport activities.

Sport in Society engages in social justice work by offering education programs that empower people to be leaders; by serving as a resource to outside stakeholders; and by advocating on behalf of underrepresented groups and causes. As such, Sport in Society is engaged in advocacy and serves in a consultative or mediator role around social justice issues in sport and in society.
