Kirsten Watson
Training & Outreach Specialist
Kirsten Watson is a Training and Outreach Specialist and has been a member of the Sport and Society team since November 2005. As a member of the Violence Prevention and Diversity (VPD) team, Watson is responsible for conducting trainings on issues regarding gender violence, diversity awareness, conflict resolution and disabilities in sport.
Watson was a member of The Home Depot�s Business Leadership Program in Atlanta, Georgia. The Business Leadership Program is an intense two-year corporate program designed for future leaders and was ranked one of the best leadership development programs in the Fortune 50. The program includes 6-month rotational assignments in a variety of disciplines, which are complimented by hands-on leadership experience in the field working on real-word business issues.
Watson spent 6 months working in a Home Depot retail location as an Assistant Manager. While there Watson managed the Merchandising Action Plan process consisting of resets, merchandising strategies, and signage. Watson also created the �What�s Up West Hills� newsletter to help bridge the communication gap between management and associates.
Watson managed the Olympic Job Opportunities Program (OJOP) which included over 100 athletes from around the country. Watson was the project manager of the first ever OJOP website and coordinated scope, layout, budget, and delivery. Watson also managed communications and relationships between the Home Depot and the Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Thrashers, ESPN Gameday, and Atlanta Falcons.
While in college, Watson was also heavily involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) where she lead and participated in many outreach programs in the community. Watson�s work with Christ Life Community Church proved to have the most impact on her life. Watson taught dance class, mentored and tutored, chaperoned field trips, helped with fundraising, and became a �big sister� to the boys and girls in the inner city of Athens, Georgia.
Watson received her BBA in Marketing with a minor in Spanish at the University of Georgia in 2003. Her special skills include public speaking, inspiring leadership, and her passion for helping people discover their inner power. Her strengths include her ability to create inclusion, deliver results, inspire achievement, and display honesty and integrity.
While in high school Watson was the team captain for softball, soccer, ran track, and was a member of the football and basketball dance team. During college, Watson was an outfielder and pinch runner for the University of Georgia�s Women�s Softball Team
