Project Teamwork (PTW)

Mission Statement

The Mission of Project TEAMWORK is to raise the awareness of young people around the issues of inequality and discrimination, teach practical conflict resolution skills, and empower them to make positive changes in society.

General Overview

Founded in 1990 and funded with a three year grant from Reebok, Project TEAMWORK (PTW) is a 6-hour diversity awareness and conflict resolution program facilitated by former collegiate student-athletes. This multi-racial, mixed gender team is trained to work with middle and high school students to combat all forms of discrimination, and teach practical conflict resolution skills.

Upon completion of the PTW curriculum, students form Human Rights Squads. These groups work together to promote social justice issues in their schools and communities. Once a year, Squads throughout Massachusetts gather at Northeastern University to celebrate diversity and highlight the impact they have made.

Violence Prevention and Diversity (VPD)
VPD is the over-arching umbrella for four human rights educational programs offered by Sport in Society.

Urban Youth Sports (UYS)
Urban Youth Sports focuses on improving the health and well being of urban youth through physical activity and healthy development initiatives.
