AmeriCorps Program

In 1995, Northeastern University, in partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service (AmeriCorps), established the community service program AIS. For the past eight years, Northeastern University's Center for the Study of Sport in Society, in Boston, MA, has coordinated the national implementation of the program.

Since 1995-1996, Athletes in Service has enrolled over 500 corps members and provided over 650,000 hours of community service. Over $1 million in education awards ($1,071,719) has been issued by the Corporation for National and Community Service to members who have successfully completed their service commitments.
